Who is MPT?

Melbourne Performance Therapy was born out of a desire to see a change in the value placed on performance healthcare. MPT aims to put the spotlight on the importance of caring for the health and wellbeing of performers. In a world where sports medicine is widely recognised and valued, we aim to make performance healthcare just as valued.

Melbourne Performance Therapy is a place where performers are understood and can be supported to do what they do best - perform!

Not a performer? That’s ok! We work with all sorts of people - for what is life if not a performance?

Erin aims to provide high quality healthcare from a fresh approach, seeking to offer creative, wholistic and realistic solutions for her patients. She understands that often the road to wellbeing is paved with good intentions, but that road is not always so easy. With her skills and experience in Myotherapy, exercise and rehabilitation Erin combines these for outstanding results for her patients and supports them to support themselves.

Erin is a firm believer in the ability of the body to heal given the right conditions. Often we turn to surgery and injections to heal the body because we feel that ‘nothing else has worked’ but often we have simply not supplied the body with the right circumstances for it to do it’s healing. Often we become impatient and think that the body should have ‘sorted itself out’ by now. What we really need is an understanding of what the body needs and how to best support it. Erin combines a modern evidence-informed understanding of the body, with years of clinical experience, alongside an empathetic understanding for what it means to be a performer.

After finishing her Health Science degree at Endeavour College in Melbourne, she discovered her true passion. She was certain about working with performers to support their health so, Melbourne Performance Therapy was established. A clinic focused on meeting the health and wellness needs of Melbourne's performing artists.

As a former performer, Erin knows firsthand the struggles that performers deal with due to the repetitive nature of their work. Her own experience with pain and injury while performing has given her special understanding of the challenges of managing pain during performances. She knows that feeling physically your best is crucial for performing your best.

Now as a qualified health practitioner she is able to combine her love of the performing arts and her passion for health and wellbeing.

Having a passion for learning and education Erin has been a curriculum coordinator and teacher at Endeavour College in Melbourne in the Bachelor of Health Science: Myotherapy, she has also worked in a variety of RTOs in the VET sector teaching in the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy and Diploma of Remedial Massage. She is also involved in continuing professional education for Myotherapists, manual therapists and exercise therapists and is the editor of the industry journal ‘ACE Journal’.

Erin has also been actively involved with the Myotherapy industry through the Myotherapy Association Australia, having previously sat on the board and chaired the Association board. She is currently the co CEO of the Myotherapy Association working in part time capacity to support the advancement and growth of the Myotherapy industry.

Clinical Myotherapy

Myotherapy is primarily a ‘hands on’ approach to musculoskeletal treatment. It can help with a wide variety of complaints and presentation from pain, injury, nerve pain, joint pain and chronic conditions.

Myotherapists are skilled in working with people with complex and multi-faceted presentations. They have the skills and knowledge to provide wholistic healthcare.

Erin incorporates a variety of techniques including dry needling, myofascial cupping, stretching, joint mobilisations and more to tailor treatments to each and every client.

Pilates

While hands on treatment can provide great relief, the best care combines movement and exercise for the best results.

Reformer pilates helps to build strength, mobility, flexibility and control, all of which are components of our overall physical health. The pilates reformer can both assist movement and add challenge making it a versatile and fun way to exercise.

Clinical Conditioning & Rehab

The most important element to any hands of treatment is the exercise that happens afterwards. It’s what you do when you’re off the table that generates lasting results.

At home exercise can feel challenging to do and to get right. Exercise supported by your practitioner helps you to feel confident that you’re doing it right and helps ensure your continual progress.

Experience the difference for yourself.
